Just married: Ulrika Jonsson ties the knot for third time

Updated 15:13pm on 12 Mar 2008

It's often said that a second marriage is the triumph of hope over experience.

And if that's the case, Ulrika Jonsson is a natural optimist. For she tied the knot for a third time at the weekend.

The bridegroom was Brian Monet, 39, whose child Miss Jonsson is carrying - the baby will be her fourth by four different fathers.

The couple were married at Blakes Hotel in West London in what they describe as a "very modern" wedding.

The former weathergirl, 40, said yesterday: "We have both been married before. I have three children from previous relationships and I am pregnant.

"You don't get more modern than that."

Miss Jonsson, who has earned the nickname "4x4" because of the number of children she has had with different men, told Hello! magazine that she "couldn't give a monkey's" about her reputation.

She said: "I don't think I have ever felt happier. I don't live my life for the critics and I have three amazing, happy children.

"If I were to listen to people and what they thought, people I don't care about, I would be even more nuts than I am now."

She added: "This is actually my idea of a dream wedding. We wanted a low-key event - just 14 guests plus the children, and we haven't invited any family.

"Nobody is offended and there has been no sense of obligation. It just feels right Brian and I having the wedding we want."

She was given away by friend Allan Peters and wore a cream maxi-Grecianstyle dress by Matthew Williamson and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Mr Monet opted for a cream Dolce & Gabbana suit.

The couple met through friends in Sweden two and a half years ago. They discovered they were expecting a boy after the sonographer inadvertently told them the sex. The baby is due at the end of May.

Miss Jonsson has three children: 13-year-old Cameron from her five-year marriage to cameraman John Turnbull; Bo, seven, from her relationship with German hotelier Markus Kempen; and Martha, nearly four, from her marriage to Lance Gerrard-Wright, which ended after two years in October 2005.

Mr Monet, an American advertising executive, was previously married to a Swede and moved from the U.S. to live with her in Sweden 15 years ago.

The marriage lasted seven years but produced no children.

When she was nicknamed 4x4, Miss Jonsson defended herself, saying: "There are plenty of men out there who have children, abandon them and have nothing to do with them. I understand the criticism but I find it interesting that it is solely directed at me.

"The lovely Rod Stewart has been married three times and has seven children and nobody bats an eyelid."

I think that Ulrika needs to start taking the sanctity of marriage seriously and care about her children's needs ahead of her own.

4 children from 4 different men and she refers to herself as "modern" - Ha ha!

I think the nation has a very different word which categorises her.
