Kate Moss, Lily Allen and Cameron Diaz are all trendsetters in their respective careers and eagerly watched for their latest style moves.

Now all have adopted the trend for curly hair, and if these girls are wearing it, there's no doubt that curly hair is in.

But don't panic, despite having been seen sporting a headful of lush curls, bouncy curls - they are not permanent.

In fact, Moss, Allen and Diaz are spearheading the trend for what one magazine has called the '24-hour perm'.

Girl with the golden curls: Trendsetting Kate Moss, seen here last week, is ahead of the pack with her new curly hairdo, but it's only temporary as she leads the trend for the '24-hour perm'

Power curls: Cameron Diaz was seen on the set of her latest film with a mop of eighties style curls much like former Charlie's Angels star Farrah Fawcett

Despite Ashes to Ashes star Keeley Hawes embracing the eye-catching curly do, Grazia magazine has poured cold water on the notion that the dreaded perm is back.

In fact Grazia says women should not be running out to get perms, but instead like the above celebrities we should be embracing the '24-hour perm'.

Moss' transformation owes more to a temporary style change rather than a box of hit or miss perming solution.

Curly Allen: Lily revealed a fine set of curls last week in London, as she opted for big and bouncy curls instead of her usual long tousled do

Frizz ease: Sarah transform her usually poker straight elfin cut into a mop of curls for an appearance on a TV show last week, and then took her new look clubbing

Thankfully, the curly look is simple to achieve and the only and can be recreated with a pair of good old curling tongs.

Remember them? Like shoulder pads, they were big in the eighties.

Geri Halliwell, Sharon Stone and Sarah Harding have also been seen wearing their hair curly, as the look has taken hold in the world of showbiz.

Crowning glory: Sharon Stone opted for a Hollywood style curly crowning glory, but clearly still likes the option of wearing her hair straight too

Bouncy lady: Geri Halliwell sports a headful of tumbling pre-Raphaelite curls on occasion, but also likes to keep it sleek still too

The debate over whether women should be having perms again arose after Superdrug reported unprecedented demand for home perm kits.

The store reported it has sold more perm kits in one week, than it has in the whole month of February last year.

But for those a bit frightened of dipping their toe in the perming waters, the 24-hour perm offers the perfect solution.

And with any luck, you might look as great as Kate!
