Wigging out: Beyonce dons blonde hair piece for new film role

Updated 00:44am on 13 Mar 2008

Beyonce Knowles has become almost unrecognisable these days after swapping her flowing locks for a short new curly do.

But fans needn't worry, the singer hasn't gone for the chop - or a perm - the hairstyle is in fact just a wig.

Seeing double: Beyonce is playing singer-songwriterEtta James in the film

The actress, 26, was sporting the blonde crop for her role as Etta James in the upcoming film, Cadillac Records, a biopic about legendary record producer Leonard Chess.

Wearing an oversized coat and high heels, Beyonce painted a comical figure as the new colour contrasted quite strongly with her dark eyebrows.

Beyonce is keen to carve out her acting career after the success of Dreamgirls, and often puts her vocal ability to use by playing singers.

Beyonce seems to be a nice young lady. Her singing and acting talent are average. I still cannot believe she is playing Etta James. When Beyonce sings, someone once said, that she yells. And listening to her recently she actually does yell. I think it is because she does not naturally have a strong voice. And when will we see the real Beyonce? She wears so many wigs or weaves that no one knows what she really looks like.

All I can say is Beyonce is a hard worker and I respect that, but I don't understand how people would be talking of Oscars. Her acting is not worth it. She's not proved to be good as she's been doing only movies that she sings in. Jennifer Hudson has done wonderfully well doing other movies that have nothing to do with singing.
