EXCLUSIVE: Holly Willoughby (and her plunging neckline) poised for U.S. stardom

Updated 14:28pm on 14 Mar 2008

With her plunging necklines and accessible charm, Holly Willoughby has become a national favourite on this side of the Atlantic.

Now the Dancing On Ice presenter is being monitored by industry executives in Hollywood who think she could become a star on American television, Mail Online has learned.

Miss Willoughby is being pursued by a host of US TV networks who are keen to see her as the new Cat Deeley.

Success story: Holly Willoughby, here presenting the show in January, has caught the attention of U.S. television bosses

Miss Deeley has done phenomenally well since she moved to the US, most recently on reality show So You Think You Can Dance for the Fox network.

At the top of the list of networks interested in Miss Willoughby is NBC.

"They are keeping a very close eye on her," a network source says.

Holly has caused a stir with her plunging necklines and full figure

"Already, programming executives are scouring scripts and pitches to offer Holly a plum spot on their upcoming schedule.

"The universal feeling is that if the timing is right and the project is right, she could easily make the jump to entertaining US audiences."

Whether the former underwear model, 27, will make the leap across the Atlantic to pursue fame and fortune like her predecessor Cat Deeley remains to be seen.

Transatlantic success: Cat Deeley has been an enormous success since moving to America

But moves have been made to initiate talks with Willoughby. Her accessible girl-next-door image and obvious good looks make her natural choice for US executives.

Willoughby, who is married to producer Dan Baldwin, also comes with a dose of controversy that is sure to stoke American interest.

In 2004 the TV host's decolletage almost popped out of her blouse on the morning children's program Ministry of Mayhem.

And as ITV viewers know only too well, she seems to revel in the attention headline-grabbing dresses give her in the weekly show.

"Holly has all the ingredients needed to make her a big star,' the source added.

"She's cute, like the girl next door, but she is also dazzling in an old movie star kind of way.

"NBC programmers have been watching her and everyone thinks that she can do a lot more than serve as a TV presenter.

"Holly has great comedic timing, she has an innocent quality about her and she is also a bombshell. She blows you away with her good looks but she's not overly intimidating."

"The powers that be are excited by Holly," the source continued.

"But they are proceeding cautiously and trying to gauge exactly what Holly's goals are and what she wants to do next."

"The next step will be to fly her over to Hollywood to meet with people who make programming decisions.

"The fact is, Holly has TV experience but she'd be a fresh new face to American audiences."

Willoughby will be the latest in a string of British stars to make it big in the US. They also include Anne Robinson, Hugh Laurie, Gordon Ramsay and Simon Cowell.

Meanwhile Holly has teased fans of her stunning Sunday outfits with promises of something very special for this weekend's ITV1 Dancing On Ice final.

The presenter, whose necklines have gone up and down more times than Greg Rusedski on the practice rink, said Sunday's Bolero-special means both herself and co-presenter Phillip Schofield are looking forward to making a sexy operatic entrance when the curtain goes up.

Phillip said: "I'll be wearing my purple Bolero pants."

Meanwhile Holly raised a few eyebrows by joking that her sexy outfits will go one step further for the final: "I'll just have two purple sequins. Carefully placed."

Noting the stir that Holly has caused with her plunging necklines and full figure, Phillip added: "That's more than you usually wear…"

The pair will be introducing the final which includes performances to Bolero by all three finalists. Chris Fountain, Suzanne Shaw and Zaraah Abrahams compete in the final after ten weeks battling it out on the ice.

Bolero became an institution after it was performed by Torvill and Dean – with many British skating fans considering their performance to be ice dancing's greatest spectacle.

She needs to have her teeth done first, they are one of the first things I always notice about her even before her breast.

Good on her! I think she looks fab!
At least she looks good in the clothes she wears and isn't trashy like Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse, give the girl a break!
