Cleared: Mark Speight will not face charges over fiancee Natasha Collins's death

Children's TV presenter Mark Speight will not face any charges over the death of his fiancee Natasha Collins.

Police said yesterday that after consulting the Crown Prosecution service, no further action will be taken against the 42-year-old.

Former public schoolboy Speight was initially investigated when Miss Collins, 31, was found dead in the bath of the couple's north London penthouse flat following an apparent cocaine overdose.

He insisted he had nothing to do with her death but was arrested on January 3 on suspicion of murder and supplying Class A drugs.

Police subsequently told Speight he was not a murder suspect but was bailed while a decision was made on the drugs matter.

Yesterday the Metropolitan Police said he would not face charges over that either.

Speight was known to millions of children for presenting the art show SMart, which has run for more than 10 years.

Following the tragedy he announced he was quitting the programme as the "tragic loss" left him unable to carry on.
