Risk another soaking? Fiona Shackleton keeps well covered up just in case

Fur deal: Fiona Shackleton ensures she stays dry

It looks as if Fiona Shackleton has had quite enough of unexpected downpours.

Sir Paul McCartney's divorce lawyer was thoroughly wrapped up against the wet weather in a flamboyant blue fur hat and scarf as she left her West London home at the weekend.

She was somewhat less prepared last Monday when she fell victim to a very heavy shower courtesy of Sir Paul's former wife Heather Mills and a jug of water.

That drenching in court, which was said to have been in revenge for Mrs Shackleton's ruthless championing of Sir Paul's case, ruined her coiffured look.

But, just to show that when fortune is on your side everything turns out for the better, the lawyer's necessarily sleeked back look left observers saying it made her look younger than before.

Miss Mills's opinion is not recorded.

Not that Mrs Shackleton - who has won the nickname Steel Magnolia in legal circles - is likely to care.

She is reported to have been paid £1million for her handling of the former Beatle's divorce, with a further £2million for her law firm Payne Hicks Beach.

Monday's High Court ruling saw Miss Mills awarded £24.3million despite asking for more than £125million.

The result won praise for Mrs Shackleton's legal skills - as well as for her emergency hair-do - and has seen her tipped to represent billionaire the Aga Khan in negotiations with estranged wife, the Begum Inaara Khan.

But whatever her next step, professionally or on the hair front, Mrs Shackleton is keeping it under her hat.
