Down on her luck and homeless...Bianca's coming back to Walford with her life in bin bags

Updated 11:44am on 28 Mar 2008

Down on her luck and struggling to survive, Bianca Jackson makes her long-awaited return to the Square with all her worldly possessions contained in a couple of black plastic bin bags.

Actress Patsy Palmer makes her EastEnders comeback after spending years in showbiz wilderness.

She features in a storyline which sees Bianca return to Albert Square after being made homeless, with her tail between her legs and four children in tow.

A source told The Sun: "Bianca and her brood return in the dead of night to see her friend Charmaine."

Things go from bad to worse as Bianca and ex-husband Ricky Butcher launch straight into a row when they finally reunite.

Bianca, last seen in the show nine years ago, is too embarrassed to reveal that she's homeless and does a runner from the café toilet.

In real life, things are looking up for Patsy, who returns to Albert Square next month to reprise the character that made her famous.

Last week she was spotted looking sharp and sleek during a shopping trip in London's Covent Garden.

All smiles: the actress says she is 'excited' about returning to EastEnders

The 35-year-old, stopped in at Kiehl's cosmetics store before heading to boutique Coco de Mer.

Palmer, who joined EastEnders in 1993, said of her return: "I'm really excited about rejoining the cast and working with old friends again.

"I can't wait to explore what Bianca has been doing with her life and seeing what she is going to get up to next."

The actress's last appearance on the BBC soap saw her with a son, Liam, whom she had with Ricky.

According to the BBC, Bianca is "at rock bottom and struggling to survive" and returns because her grandmother, Pat Evans, still lives in the Square.

Palmer, who is originally from Bethnal Green in east London, started her acting career with a part in Grange Hill. After leaving EastEnders, she went on to star in BBC detective drama McCready and Daughter.

She now lives on the south coast with her husband and three children and also runs her own cosmetics company.

Bianca is just one of the many characters making a comeback to attend Frank Butcher's funeral and drama is sure to unfold. As well as Ricky, she will be joined by bad girl Janine Butcher, played by Charlie Brooks.

Palmer, said of her return: "I'm really excited about rejoining the cast and working with old friends again" I bet she is, same as she was excited to leave the show to explore other opportunities. This is another aspect of the BBC that makes me mad the fact that no one ever really leaves the BBC. She left the show because she thought she was such a big star and look what happens her career has gone nowhere, but don't worry the BBC will take any failure back.

Ugh - is this what a typical British family looks like? No wonder this country is going to the dogs.
