Despite her chaotic lifestyle, Amy Winehouse still manages to cram quite a lot into 24 hours.

But it's not exactly the lifestyle you might expect from a Grammy award-winning singer.

The star emerged from her Camden home dressed in a salmon pink polo shirt and cut-off jeans for a visit to Pentonville Prison in north London.

Day in the life: Amy's day starts late due to her nocturnal lifestyle, and she emerges from her Camden home yesterday at 2.45pm for a visit to Pentonville Prison to see incarcerated husband Blake Fielder-Civil

Ravaged: Amy's return to health following a short spell in rehab was brief, and her skin shows the toll of her alleged return to drink and drugs binges

Although she had obviously made an effort to look smart for her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, who is facing charges of assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice, her ravaged appearance shocked onlookers.

The 24-year-old's alleged drink and drugs binges are said to have spiralled out of control since she left rehab last month.

Yesterday her face was covered in scars and blisters. And the faded scratches on her arms, which have raised fears that the singer is self-harming, were also clearly visible.

Just weeks ago Amy seemed to have pulled herself back from the brink when she appeared looking fit and well on the Grammy's show.

But now the singer has reportedly told friends she "can't imagine a life without drugs" and is pining for Blake, who she says is the only person who can understand her.

A source told Look magazine: "She says the drugs take the edge off how much she misses Blake.

"He's everything to her and she's struggling to cope without him. She keeps saying the drugs help her through.

"She's told everyone she has no intention of quitting them right now."

Pleased as munch: Amy waved to fans as she stopped off a chip shop in north London after her prison visit with husband Blake

Chips with everything: It's well known that Amy loves junk food, but her appearance of late looks less than healthy

Things have been made worse by the fact that Amy only sees Blake through two inches of reinforced glass during her visits. The conditions were reportedly imposed by prison bosses last month after he was placed in solitary confinement following a drugs overdose.

After the late afternoon visit, the notorious junk food addict stopped off at a local chip shop. She picked up a huge portion of fish and chips and a bottle of Lucozade energy drink to keep her going.

It's not the typical fare enjoyed by most Grammy award-winning artists, but Amy seemed pleased with her fast-food fix.

The star rounded off an already eventful day, with a visit from fellow musician and recovering drug addict Pete Doherty.

A grubby looking Pete pitched up in Camden with his guitar and notebook in his heavily stained fingers for an evening's jamming.

No doubt the pair spent the time making sweet music together.

Late night visit: Amy's eventful day gets even more interesting as she gets a visit herself from musician and notorious drug user Pete Doherty

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Pete is set to make a TV show about drug-abusing teenagers for Channel 4.

According to the Daily Star, the Babyshambles frontman will travel to two estates in the north of England, focusing on children addicted to heroin and crack cocaine.

Doherty will take part in music workshops with the youngsters, as well as visiting a pie and pasty factory with them.

What a perfect couple. Both talentless over-rated junkies. Sex, Drugs, but they forgot the Rock n Roll. Novelty acts who spend more time in the pub or the chip shop than actually playing on stage. Utterly hopeless.
