Pregnant Kerry Katona keeps the alcohol flowing on reality show

Updated 12:17pm on 4 Apr 2008

Kerry Katona appeared with her glass charged with alcohol on three separate occasions during an episode of her reality show Crazy In Love which aired on MTV last night.

The troubled star, who is expecting her fourth child, has previously dismissed criticism of her decision to drink during her pregnancy, insisting she only does so in moderation.

She has said previously: "I'm sorry but what woman who is pregnant has not had a glass of wine? Get over it. A lot of women have more than that. I'm sick of people judging me."

The former Atomic Kitten singer has also continued smoking, despite undergoing hypnotherapy in an effort to give up.

Wined and dined: the pregnant star had what appears to be a glass of rose while out with husband Mark Croft

"I'm only on 3 or 4 cigarettes a day and I'm desperately trying to quit," Kerry said recently.

The 27-year-old, who has battled cocaine and alcohol addiction in the past, has faced a string of health concerns during her latest pregnancy.

Toast: Kerry insists she only drinks in moderation

She was admitted to Maccesfield General on last week after a midwife became concerned that she had contracted the potentially fatal condition, pre-eclampsia. But medics discovered had water retention and she was released from hospital.

She also suffered a serious miscarriage scare during the earlier stages of the pregnancy.

Earlier this month filming of the MTV reality series was suspended when she went into The Priory for treatment for depression.

Since I've become pregnant my main focus is on giving my baby the best start in life. That means giving up certain things. If someone can't give up alcohol for 9 months then I would suggest that perhaps they are too selfish to have children in the first place. Your life changes, fact, so some small sacrifices for the sake of your child are worth it. A small risk is still a risk and surely it is always better to er on the side of caution in this case. Whatever you think of Kerry (and I don't think she adds a great deal to society) its plain to see that her actions are purely motivated by what she wants to do, rather than perhaps what's best for her child.
