Amy Winehouse was doubly happy today. The singer actually made it on time to see her husband in jail - and her scabby skin was looking much healthier.

The singer's recent facial problems have been worrying fans, almost as much as the scratch marks on her arms.

But as she left for Pentonville Prison today to see remanded Blake Fielder-Civil - who has reportedly threatened her with divorce because of her chronic lateness - she was looking remarkably scab-free.

Amy has been battling the infection impetigo, and it looks as if she's taken to wearing rubber gloves to prevent the condition worsening.

Either that or she was planning to help out in the kitchen at Pentonville, where Fielder-Civil is incarcerated while he waits to be tried for perverting the course of justice following as assault in a pub.

Alternatively, Amy is making a style statement - though with a rip in her miniskirt, it seems more likely that she left the house in an enormous hurry.

The beehive at least was in perfect condition and Amy used the mirror on the car to make sure her headscarf was on straight. She told photographers that she was going to "give Blake a kiss today".

The star is said to be under pressure to clean up her act, as Blake is furious about her poor time-keeping and frequent no-shows.

The visit also comes as husband Blake was reportedly ambushed in prison.

Blake was beaten by fellow inmates, sustaining a black eye, who believed he was carrying heroin.

A source told the News Of The World: "He got ambushed by a few blokes who thought he had heroin on him.

"Because Blake is such a high-profile inmate, he's a natural target on the landings.

"There have been lots of threats and for a long time he just kept himself confined to his cell. He'll be staying there a lot more now."
