The Mighty Coup: Cult comedian Noel Fielding is one of the best dressed men in Britain

If ever proof were needed that the British sense of style was somewhat eccentric, a quick glance the latest best-dressed list should do the trick.

Freakishly flamboyant comedian, Noel Fielding, made a startling appearance on GQ's annual list of the best-dressed men in Britain.

Fielding came in at second place, only losing out to the classically dapper Daniel Craig.

The list also gave a few more surprises with the likes of Elton John, Lewis Hamilton and ... the Duke of Edinburgh.

Fielding, 34, shot to fame as Vince Noir in the cult comedy series The Mighty Boosh, where he indulged in his passion for outlandish, androgynous outfits.

The performer has admitted buying his accessories for Top Shop and reportedly said: "I always dress like a freak. I've always been obsessed by clothes. My mum was always into my clothes, too."

The Royal family are well represented in the magazine's top 50 list with Prince Harry at 12, the Prince of Wales at 25, the Duke of Edinburgh makes 33 and Prince Michael of Kent at 34.

Sadly, the second in line to the throne - Prince William - didn't make the cut.

James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, was at the top of the list for the second year running.

Jude Law, Clive Owen and David Beckham also held onto their style crowns.
