Lisa Marie Presley and Angelina Jolie appeared to have taken inspiration from the dark side of fashion for their maternity wardrobe.

The pair debuted matching floor-grazing maxi-dresses in sombre black which was reminiscent of the 'Goth' fashion tribe, who dress head to toe in the mournful colour.

Angelina's satin dress, which she wore for a meeting in Washington on behalf of Iraqi children held by the Council on Foreign Affairs, was softer in tone, with its plunging neckline and flowing skirt.

Gothic mums: Lisa Marie Presley and Angelina Jolie embrace their dark side, as they step out in black Gothic style maxi-dresses which show off their growing bumps

While Lisa Marie's dark period style frock was gathered at the bustline, with tight sleeves and a wealth of fabric which flowed over her bump.

And in another coincidence, both mothers-to-be are reported to be expecting twins.

Busy Angelina hasn't let her pregnancy affect her packed schedule. Recently she took part in a ground-breaking ceremony alongside actor partner Brad Pitt to build homes for Hurricane Katrina refugees.

And yesterday while in Washington to she urged the international community to make educating Iraqi children a greater priority.

The Jolie-Pitt brood currently numbers four: Maddox, six; Pax, four; Zahara, three; and Shiloh, who turns two next month.

Meanwhile Lisa Marie was seen after she enjoyed a romantic night out in Los Angeles with husband Michael Lockwood on Tuesday.

The daughter of rock 'n' roll king Elvis Presley, who is rumoured to be expecting twins, wore the dramatic full-length medieval style gown for dinner at Italian restaurant Madeo.

But comfort was clearly a priority for the heavily pregnant singer, who was spotted leaving the venue in a pair of black flip flops.

Date night: Lisa Marie was accompanied by her husband, music producer Michael Lockwood

Lisa Marie, who is expecting her third child with husband number four, says she has been struck by cravings, albeit healthy ones.

"Fruit — it's boring but that's what I want," she said recently. "Any fruit: fruit smoothie, fruit juice — it's good!"

Lisa Marie also revealed music producer Lockwood, whom she wed in Japan in 2006, has been experiencing sympathy pains during her pregnancy.

She told the American edition of OK! magazine: "He has all my symptoms. He feels like his belly is getting big, and he has the same appetite I have. He's having reflux and was nauseous the other day. It's funny."

Lisa Marie added that her with her teenage children still at home - Riley, 18, and Ben, 15, from her first marriage to Danny Keough - there will be no shortage of helping hands after she gives birth.

She said: "Oh yeah, they will. I'll be at the bar, and they'll be home baby-sitting. Just kidding!"

She is reported to be due at the end of August.

Hi Lisa,
I have loved you, your father and your mom since I was a teenager and that's been a long time. You are beautiful just like your amazing father and mother. I wish you the best with your new baby(s). I hope it is twins. If you have a boy could you name him Elvis?
You mother was so elegant and graceful on DWTS. All of us together voted for her 200 times every time she was on. Tell her that we all love her and that we think she should have won or at least have been in the top three.
You have so much to live for and we wish you the best in life.
