Actress Julie Christie revealed the secret to maintaining her striking looks at the age of 66 - a good make-up artist.

The always glamorous star - who missed out on an Oscar this year - was pictured heading into her trailer looking decidedly close to her age.

Remarkably a short time later she emerged to begin shooting scenes for New York, I Love You looking years younger.

Makeover: Christie emerged from her trailer with a younger and more glamorous look

Christie has previously admitted to going under the surgeon's knife. She had a face life ten years ago after becoming paranoid about her ageing looks following a move to the US.

"…people who are older than you appear to be younger," she said.

"It is really undermining. You know they are older than you, yet you look like their mother."

Christie heads into her trailer earlier looking close to her 66 years, actor John Hurt is also starring in the movie

Christie is appearing alongside Transformers star Shia Labeouf, 21, in the movie, a collection of 12 short films set in each of the city's five boroughs which was written by the late director Anthony Minghella and Shekhar Kapur stepped in to direct this section of the movie after Minghella's death last month.

The film centres on a woman who checks into a hotel that is in between worlds.

Each segment will have a different director and those taking their turn behind the camera include Natalie Portman, Allen Hughes, Brett Ratner and Scarlett Johansson.
