From Dr Nikki to Emilia Foxy - the Silent Witness star talks about her strip club lessons

Updated 11:44am on 15 Apr 2008

It is the sort of look that might stir even the corpses she normally presides over.

This is Silent Witness star Emilia Fox, wearing nothing more than leather boots and skimpy lingerie, in a raunchy scene from her new film Cashback, to be released on May 9.

More familiar to television viewers as pathologist Nikki Alexander, Emilia has taken lessons in stripping and pole-dancing for her role as a supermarket checkout girl who is wooed by her colleague, Harry Potter star Sean Biggerstaff, 25.

Poles apart: Emilia Fox the erotic dancer couldn't be more different to the character she plays in Silent Witness

The pole-dancing scene is part of a dream sequence in which her admirer fantasises about her disposing of her supermarket uniform.

The 33-year-old daughter of aristocratic actor Edward Fox admits in an exclusive interview in today's Live magazine that she enjoyed learning pole-dancing.

She said: 'I felt much more comfortable in lap-dancing pubs than I ever do at some terribly posh ball. I also took some lessons in a lesbian club in Soho, which was wonderful.

Emilia says she felt much more comfortable in lap-dancing pubs than she ever does at 'some terribly posh ball'

"I did all my training during the girls' rehearsals and then I would hang around afterwards to watch the shows.

"I don't find pole-dancing, lap-dancing or stripping demeaning to women. I think women have beautiful bodies and they are lovely to look at. I felt empowered by my experience.

"I remember walking into this pub in East London and feeling sick. I'd brought with me my smallest, tightest T-shirt and a pair of French knickers.

"I saw these girls on stage in amazing little outfits.

"It was like your first day at boarding school, when you feel small and you fall in love with these gorgeous sexy sixth-formers who seem so in control."

Cashback, directed by Sean Ellis and also starring EastEnders and Bionic Woman actress Michelle Ryan, was first made as a short film in 2006, when it was nominated for an Oscar.

It has now been reshot as a feature-length romantic comedy. Emilia's poledancing is in the latest version only.
