James Blunt and Shakin' Stevens head Glastonbury's strangest (and most middle-aged) line-up yet

Glastonbury's strangest line-up yet has been released early after it was leaked online by the NME.

As well as the more traditional rock acts, festival organisers have stunned fans with the surprising inclusion of Shakin' Stevens and James Blunt on the bill.

In complete contrast, MOR favourite Blunt and 1980s pop star Shakin' Stevens will be performing on the Pyramid Stage the same day as headlining rapper Jay-Z.

Other acts aimed at the more mature festivalgoer includes Leonard Cohen and Irish singer/songwriter Gilbert O'Sullivan, who will both sing on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday.

Other acts set to perform at the Somerset festival, which takes place the last weekend in June, include Crowded House, John Mayer, Estelle, Duffy, Kate Nash, The Feeling, Massive Attack, Sinead O'Connor, Newton Faulkner and Kings of Leon.

Troubled rocker Pete Doherty is scheduled to perform on the smaller The Park stage - if he is released from prison on time.

His ex-girlfriend Kate Moss is guaranteed to attend the festival this year - her new boyfriend Jamie Hince, of The Kills, is scheduled to play the John Peel Stage on the Friday.

Troubadour Jamie T will headline the John Peel Stage while The Fratellis and The Gossip will play the Pyramid Stage, alongside The Verve and Leonard Cohen.

Amy Winehouse is rumoured to be one of the acts yet not confirmed for the pyramid stage.

Jay-Z

No surprises: Rapper Jay-Z had already been announced by organisers

Run by Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily at their farm in Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury has attracted controversy this year.

Tickets failed to sell out on the first day, while they were snapped up within hours in previous years.

In addition to this, the organisers have been criticised for choosing hip-hop artist Jay-Z as a head-liner.

Oasis guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher told the BBC earlier this month: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.

"Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?'

"I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."

Emily Eavis defended the ticket sales, saying she was delighted to have sold 10,000 on the first day, given that it was a snowy Sunday which may not have put people in the festival mood.

She said the 900-acre festival in Pilton had a long history of attracting rap artists.

She said: "We think that we've got probably the most diverse lineup that we've ever had.

"It's very eclectic and we're really over the moon about it to be honest. It represents so much music across the board. The John Peel stage represents most or all of what's been going on in British music over the last year."

Eavis described the inclusion of Shakin' Stevens on the bill as a "curve ball", which they like to throw in every year.

Last year, Dame Shirley Bassey was the big shock name at the muddy event, but wowed audiences.

More than 150,000 people attended the event last year, when Arctic Monkeys and The Who were headline acts.
