They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and it appears Paris Hilton must think a lot of best friend Nicole Richie if her ever changing look if anything to go by.

Years after the media accused a newly-slender Nicole of trying to look like Paris, it seems the tables have turned.

After watching Nicole transform from Paris' chubby sidekick to a fashion icon and celebrity in her own right, it appears the socialite may be trying to capitalise on the new mum's style.

While Paris, 27, has always been skinny, it appears she has slimmed down even further as she steps out in Beverly Hills with new boyfriend Benji Madden.

Dressed in a tiny white sundress and oversized sunglasses, Paris channelled the spirit of her old friend during a day out with her 29-year-old beau.

Paris' gaunt appearance at Prego restaurant on Tuesday echoed that of Nicole's famously pre-baby slender frame.

Nicole grew so skinny, she was forced to deny reports she was suffering from an eating disorder but did acknowledge she needed to put on weight.

In recent months, Paris has followed in the footsteps of Nicole by landing rocker boyfriend Benji - identical twin brother of Nicole's partner Joel - dressing in her pal's trademark white and now losing weight.

Only time will tell if Paris will follow Nicole, 26, into parenthood.

Nicole became pregnant with daughter Harlow Winter just five months after she started dating Joel.

Paris, who started dating the Good Charlotte guitarist in February, has often spoke of her wish to be a young mum.

She said: "I know in my heart of hearts I would be a great mother. I have a lot of beautiful animals that I look after and I feel that I would have a lot to give to my children...

"I don't want to be an old mom — hopefully it'll happen soon."

Despite only dating Benji for just two months, the couple are rumoured to be considering settling down together.

In a recent interview on America's Sirius radio, Benji said: "We have known each other for a long time, and I've always known the real Paris. I always knew that she was like...wife material or serious girlfriend material.

"You just want to get on top of a mountain and go, I'm in love! But your fans would probably make fun of you."

When asked if he would consider marrying Paris, he replied: "Nothing would make me happier. Wow, alright. Ok. I'm not gonna bet against you on that. We'll see. I'm very, very happy right now."

Paris has been engaged twice before - to American model Jason Shaw and Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, while Benji ended his engagement to Australian singer/actress Sophie Monk just weeks before he started dating the hotel heiress.
