Mariah Carey's family are reeling after it was revealed she has secretly married her toy boy lover, after dating him for just ONE month, it has emerged.

The Touch My Body singer has reportedly wed 27-year-old actor and presenter Nick Cannon at her home in the Bahamas.

The New York Post is reporting that Carey's family shocked by the chart-topping singer's sudden nuptials, which was so hurried, that she didn't bother with a pre-nuptial agreement.

A source said: "There was no pre-nup, there wasn't time".

"If that is what he wants then we are happy for him."

She added: "I'm not going to give you any details, but we are happy for him."

Mariah, who is 11 years old than her new husband, first sparked rumours when she was seen arriving at the Tribeca Film Festival arm-in-arm with Cannon.

When asked what he loved about the multi-millionaire singer and songwriter, Cannon reportedly said "everything".

Earlier this week Carey's spokesperson confirmed that the couple had got engaged and now it appears they have wed in secret.

Guests at the ceremony apparently included the star's longtime friend, rapper Da Brat.

A source told US newspaper The New York Post: "They have been smitten with each other for days, weeks.

"And she's always had a crush on him."

But although her family are said to be concerned. A source added: "Everyone is happy to see her happy. And it could work out.

"Some people know each other for five years and get divorced. Maybe this is true instant love."

It was suggested that Cannon proposed to Carey with the same ring he bought for his ex-fiancée, Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks.

But a spokesperson for jeweller Jacob & Co. said the actor had in fact spent more than $2.5 million for a custom made 17 carat ring, designed especially for the pop-star by the company's Jacob Arabo.

The spokesman said: "Both rings were by Jacob & Co., but this ring for Mariah was custom made by Jacob.

"I can say definitively that this is a completely different ring.

They look a little similar, but this [Mariah's ring] is a one-of-a-kind piece that Cannon worked with Jacob to create."

This is the second marriage for Mariah. In 1993 she married Columbia Records Executive Tommy Mottola, but they split just four years later.

New husband Cannon made his television debut on kids cable channel Nickelodeon's 'All That'. He has had a few film parts, but has remained mostly on US television.

Meanwhile, Mariah has enjoyed massive success as a recording artist with her record sales putting her alongside the Beatles and ahead of Elvis Presley in the record books.

She recently beat Elvis Presley to the amount of Number One hits scored on the Billboard charts.

Her most recent single, Touch My Body, was her 18th number one single, and her latest album, E=MC2, also debuted at No. 1 on the charts.
