Fall from grace: Fergie trips over in her towering heels

Updated 13:30pm on 12 May 2008

Strutting around the streets of New York a fabulous pair of vertiginous heels can be a perilous sport - just ask Fergie.

The pop star took a rather embarrassing, not to mention painful, tumble as she left the Waverly Inn restaurant in the West Village last night after she lost her balance on her 5 inch peep-toe platforms.

Thankfully her burly security guard was on hand to catch her before she hit the pavement.

Ouch! Pop star Fergie trips over as she leaves New York restaurant Waverly Inn last night

She managed to avoid a serious injury, but did walk away with a few grazes on her foot and a rather red face.

Perhaps Fergie can get some tips from another gang of high-heel aficionados - the Sex and the City girls. The singer recently recorded the theme song for the upcoming silver screen release.

The catchy pop track, titled Labels or Love, incorporates the show's classic instrumental theme at the beginning and end.

My pumps: the star walked a way with a few grazes on her feet

The 33-year-old says: "I grew up watching Sex and the City and I know a lot of my girlfriends did as well."

"We felt like these characters were our friends, so to be a part of this project has been amazing."

Jennifer Hudson, who plays Carrie Bradshaw's assistant in the movie, also has a new song on the soundtrack, All Dressed in Love.

Smile the pain away: Fergie managed to laugh off the embarrassing - and painful - moment
