Who won the great Posh vs Paris photocall fight?

Updated 12:00pm on 17 May 2008

With figures like theirs, Victoria Beckham and Paris Hilton don't take up much room.

But London still wasn't big enough for the both of them yesterday.

The women who know exactly how to get cameras clicking found themselves vying for attention as they launched their latest business ventures.

Head to head: Victoria Beckham heads out to dinner after the launch of her jeans in harrods (left), while party girl Paris paints the town red after promoting her new perfume

Victoria, 34, arrived at Harrods to promote her range of DVB jeans. And Miss Hilton, 27, was setting up stall at Selfridges to sell her latest perfume.

Victoria, who looked impeccable in crisp flared jeans and a glamorous corset top, wasn't able to make a grand entrance at the Knightsbridge store. An anti-fur protest outside, although not aimed at her, put paid to that.

Two miles up the road at Selfridges, however, Miss Hilton's arrival saw Oxford Street temporarily closed. Advantage Paris.

Flanked by an entourage of bodyguards Miss Hilton then did the wide-eyed pouty thing that she and Posh have perfected.

In a white dress, Louboutin heels and a striking white hat she spent 15 minutes chatting with admirers.

Victoria is hoping to persuade Londoners to buy her dVb jeans after proclaiming residents of the capital are "the most stylish in the world".

Dozens of fans queued for several hours outside the prestigious store as they waited in anticipation to meet their fashion idol - on the condition they bought something from her collection between 9th to 15th May.

After leaving the Dorchester Hotel, Victoria got into a BMW to make the less than a mile journey to Harrods, where she was greeted by a horde of paparazzi.

Victoria opted for the flared jeans from her denim wear line after declaring the seventies-style trousers were the must-have fashion item for this season.

She said: "Right now, my dVb signature style is definitely the 70s skinny flare.

"People with real style are wearing dVb because they truly like the style, fit and quality and that is a great compliment.

"I love London. I believe its mix of cultures makes it the most stylish city in the world."

Victoria has been doing heavy promotion of her denim range during her whistlestop visit to the UK following criticism by some American store owners that she failed to promote the brand enough.

Following the bad publicity, the U.S. spokesperson for the brand said there are "no plans" to promote dVb in LA.

Fraser Ross, owner of trendy LA boutique Kitson, said he was unhappy about former pop star's lack of promotion in the store.

The former Spice Girl was interviewed by GMTV host Fiona Phillips as part of a two day segment for the breakfast show and visited BBC Radio 1 earlier today.

Despite reports he retracted his statement about slow sales of the range, Ross told U.S. news network Fox News this week: "It's a huge slap in the face.

"Her people told us that we won't be getting an in-store appearance because Victoria was angry about all the negative press she got here and things I said. So instead of trying to fix it, she's just snubbing us at a time when the U.S. economy really needs a boost.

"Victoria asked me to issue a statement saying that they were best-sellers and flying off the shelves, but I said I would not lie like that, but it looks like they've done it anyway.

"Right now I have no choice but to pull her line off the floor — I'm lucky to sell 18 pairs of dVb jeans a month, whereas other brands at her price point I sell at least 200."

Last month, U.S. department store chain Loehmanns put dVB jeans on sale from £150 to £35 in a bid to shift their stock.

I do like Victoria's jeans (not that I could afford them) however, I think she would have boosted her popularity if she went and held up a banner endorsing the anti-fur campaign tenfold. Anyone still wearing fur in this day and age should be made to watch a video of an animal being skinned alive, over and over until it sinks in to their brain how barbaric and cruel this trade is.

Eeeee! There's a rare sight -

A double perfect example of what the word Vacuous means. And just in case someone is reading this to Posh or Paris, a wee explanation -

vac·u·ous [vak-yoo-uhs] Pronunciation

1. without contents; empty: the vacuous air.
2. lacking in ideas or intelligence: a vacuous mind.
3. expressing or characterized by a lack of ideas or intelligence; inane; stupid: a vacuous book.
4. purposeless; idle: a vacuous way of life.

Get over yourselves you pair of donuts!!

I actually like those dvb jeans. It's either extreme flare or extreme skinny nowadays. I like it.

My God, is that a smile?! Also, those long flares always remind me of the "Brick in the Wall" video by Pink Floyd.
