Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer fool no one as they make separate exits from hotel love nest
Last updated at 12:00pm on 17.05.08Jen and John are at it again - trying to make like passing ships in the night when it's almost a given that they're a red hot couple.
The singer and the actress, who are holidaying in New York, made every effort to keep their romantic dinner date on Thursday night low key, as they dined together at celebrity haunt West Village's Waverly Inn and then popped into Hudson Bar and Books for a nightcap.
They then made a point of re-entering the Ritz-Carlton, where they've been staying, through separate doors.

But their attempts to side-step attention on their romance proved futile before the unblinking eye of fans and paparazzi ready to catch them out.
The charade also seemed a little unnecessary given that they've already been photographed cosying up in Miami and Orlando.
The next morning in New York they were up to the same tricks.
John was spotted walking with his head firmly lowered south as he exited the hotel, in a bid to escape the notice of passers by.
Soon after, Jennifer walked out alone too, carrying a bottle of Smart water to refresh her as she embarked on a solo shopping spree to upper east side furniture store Naga Antiques.
Jen spent around 30 minutes in the store, which specialises in Asian works of art, before heading back to the Ritz Carlton.

But despite all the trouble they're taking to slip their coupledom under the public's radar, they'll be lucky to escape the paparazzi, who have their fingers poised over the shutter buttons to capture every moment they spend together.
The two have been spotted keeping very close company in recent times - on Tuesday, Aniston, 39, sat backstage at Mayer's hour-long performance at a convention center in Orlando.
She proved to be his number one fan, taking pictures of him during the show and sending him back on stage with a big kiss for an encore song, Tom Petty's Free Fallin'.
On the weekend, they put on a show of poolside passion at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami, where she has been filming Marley & Me and later headed to the film's wrap party together.
A source told Mail Online: "She's really into John, and the nine year age difference doesn't bother her for a second. Jen's already telling friends she's falling in love with this guy."
Jennifer's New York date came on the same day as Angelina Jolie confirmed she and Brad Pitt are expecting twins, which will take their brood up to six.
Following her high-profile divorce from Pitt, Jennifer has had a string of failed romances with actors Vince Vaughan, Orlando Bloom and Essex model Paul Sculfor among others.
For his part, John has also churned through Hollywood stars including Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt and most recently, actress Minka Kelly.
Love Hewitt was rumoured to be the inspiration behind is 2003 Grammy-winning track, Your Body Is a Wonderland.
