Indiana Jones is back - and he's buff: Harrison Ford holds back the years at Cannes

Updated 11:32am on 19 May 2008

Indiana Jones is back – and he's buff. Particularly so, for a 66-year-old.

The film's namesake, Harrison Ford, was snapped sporting the physique of a man half his age at a press conference in Cannes today.

The actor was in town to promote his latest venture as the whip-cracking adventurer – Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, which will premiere on Sunday.

Dr Jones was last seen riding off into the sunset in 1989's The Last Crusade, set in 1938, close to the start of the Second World War.

The new film is set at the height of the Cold War in 1957, meaning Ford's character has aged in real time.

Sporting a full head of hair and a muscular torso it comes as no surprise the ex-Star Wars hero performed most of his own stunts in the new film.

Ford's youthful turn at the Carlton Hotel today did however end with a small nod to his advancing years – the actor paused midway to make sure he was carefully tucked in against a slight breeze.
