She turned heads when she accompanied Lewis Hamilton to the Indiana Jones premiere in Cannes at the weekend.

Now it has emerged that the Formula 1 driver's mystery date was Vivian Burkhardt, a Miss World runner-up.

He invited the 5ft 8in Miss Grenada, 22 to jet over from her home in the Caribbean to join him in the South of France.

The pair were pictured coming out of the Carlton Hotel together on the world famous Croisette on Sunday evening.

Vivian is the latest in a string of identical-looking beauties Lewis has entertained in recent months.

The couple first met on the island through Hamilton's family connections.

The 23 year-old driver makes regular visits to Grenada to visit his grandfather who returned home after moving to Britain in the 1950s.

Miss Burkhardt is currently studying for a degree in Natural Science at St George's University in Grenada and wants to become a surgeon.

German-born Miss Burkhardt - who is also a classically trained singer - will feel at home if she is invited to visit the McLaren driver at his new home in Geneva, Switzerland. She is fluent in German, English and French.

According to a Miss World website her motto is: "Live life with love and gratitude."

A spokesman for McLaren said: "Lewis brought a group of friends to Cannes for the film festival after being invited to the premiere by George Lucas.

"He and Vivian know each other from Grenada where Lewis often visits for family reasons."

It is not clear whether 5ft 8 Miss Burkhardt will continue her trip in Monaco where Hamilton will race this weekend in the Grand Prix.

A publicist said: "I don't know if she will be staying with him. He normally likes to concentrate before big races."

Hamilton, who is only in his second year of Formula 1, has been linked to a number of beautiful women since he split from girlfriend of four years, Jodia Ma, in June last year.

The relationship broke down when Miss Ma returned home to Hong Kong to begin a career as a restaurateur.

She was said to be "inconsolable" when they broke up.

Soon after their break-up Hamilton was pictured strolling along the French Riviera and frolicking in the sea with Sara Ojjeh, the teenage daughter of McLaren boss Mansour Ojjeh.

Hamilton spent a fortnight with the Ojjeh family on their 235ft yacht off St Tropez last summer.

However, the F1 driver issued a public statement declaring that the pair were just good friends.

In November it was revealed that he had a brief relationship with Miss Turkey finalist, Cimre Mirel, 20, after she sold her story to a national newspaper.

Hamilton, who earns £10 million a year, has also dated supermodel Naomi Campbell and Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger who he met at the European MTV Music Awards.
