Guitarist Mayer has dated a string of other Hollywood beauties, including Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Jessica Simpson - and friends fear Brad Pitt's ex may be heading for further heartache.

A source told The Daily Mirror: "They appear to be in the honeymoon stage of their relationship. They were laughing at each other's jokes and being very touchy-feely."

Last weekend they put on a show of poolside passion at the Mandrian Oriental Hotel in Miami, where she has been filming Marley & Me and later headed to the film's wrap party together.

A source said: "She's really into John, and the nine year age difference doesn't bother her for a second. Jen's already telling friends she's falling in love with this guy."
