Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin's daughter Ireland is set to be the next young Hollywood beauty if these photos are anything to go by.

The 12-year-old blonde bares more than a striking resemblance to her stunning Oscar-winning actress mother thanks to her dark blonde hair, blue eyes and, it seems, a penchant for black eyeliner.

The teenager was photographed spending the Memorial Day weekend in the Los Angeles beachside suburb of Malibu - where she lives with her 54-year-old mother.

Ireland's father Alec spent most of his time in New York because of his dislike for California and spends time with Ireland on holidays.

For the Memorial Day weekend, Alec flew to the west coast to spend time with Ireland and even treated her friends to a smoothie.

Alec and Kim previously battled over custody of Ireland following their acrimonious divorce in 2002.

Baldwin, 54, was embarrassed in April last year when a two-minute voicemail message left for his daughter was leaked onto the internet.

In the tape, Baldwin criticised his daughter for failing to answer the pre-scheduled phone call and labelled Basinger "a thoughtless pain in the a**".

He made a public apology to his daughter, explaining his inappropriate message was due to being "driven to the edge" by his custody battle with Basinger.

He wrote on his web site: "I have a normal relationship with my daughter."

"I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child.

"I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened."
