Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber would do anything to show his 'Nancys' a real good time

Updated 11:36am on 28 May 2008

The finalists of BBC’s I’d Do Anything, who are all battling to play Nancy in the West End production of Oliver, dined at The Ivy in Covent Garden with the show’s main judge Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The hopefuls — Jessie, Jodie and Samantha — proved they really would do anything, cosying up to Andrew outside the restaurant, hanging on his every word, even laughing at his jokes.

In a more gruelling test of their resolve, they had earlier been to see Liza Minnelli performing at London Coliseum. Crikey, they really will do anything.

The remaining Nancys were enjoying the trappings of celebrity after Rachel Tucker from Belfast became the ninth girl to be voted off the show on Saturday night.

She lost out despite getting a standing ovation from the audience for singing  Minelli's signature song Cabaret.

Head judge Sir Andrew chose to keep Miss Barks in the competition when the pair placed in the final two.

The BBC show which allows the audience to choose a new Nancy for Cameron Mackintosh's West End production of Oliver! has attracted more than 6.6million viewers week to week.

Twelve potential Olivers aged ten to 13 are also part of the televised competition although the audience is not able to participate in their selection.

The winners will be announced after a live final on Saturday night.
