Coleen McLoughlin has had to make an emergency dash to New York just two weeks before her wedding to Wayne Rooney - after discovering that her £100,000 Marchesa dress no longer fits.

The last-minute glitch has thrown her wedding plans into chaos, and she had to drop everything yesterday to jet out to see the top designer in Manhattan.

Coleen’s pre-wedding diet has proved a little bit too successful  - and she has dropped bust sizes.

Coleen and Wayne are being paid an unprecedented £3million by OK! magazine for the pictures of their nuptials, which take place on 12 June.

A source said: 'Coleen is really stressing out as this really is every bride’s nightmare. There is so much for her to organise, with several bashes lined up in the Cote d’Azur, Sicily and on a yacht in the Med.

'Coleen has been trying to make sure everything is in place, although at the same time she has been working with a personal trainer to keep in shape. It looks like the stress of it all has made her shed a few pounds too many, and the dress no longer fits her around the bust.

‘She was devastated. The meringue dress, which has a 25ft train, was her favourite aspect of the whole ceremony - and was supposed to make her look and feel like a princess.

‘When she discovered it didn’t fit properly, she dropped everything and sneaked off to New York straight away. The alterations will be done by the label’s top designers in Manhattan, and she will have to stay for as long as it takes. She’s hoping to be back within a few days.’

To rub salt in the wounds Coleen, 22, appears on the front of a weekly magazine this week in another Marchesa dress in a photoshoot - only that one fits like a glove.

In keeping with wedding superstition, she refused to pose in the one she’ll use for her wedding.

She told the magazine: ‘If you told me years ago that I would be getting married to Wayne I would not have believed you. When we first talked about getting married we did feel too young, but not any more.

‘My mum was married when she was 18 - and my mum and dad are still together. We want to spend the rest of our lives together.’

Rather prophetically, she add: ‘I did not want to lose too much weight or put too much on. I wanted to look just right.'
