After he took her on a romantic trip to Cannes she must have thought her position was secure.

But it seems that Lewis Hamilton's roving eye could already give his Miss Grenada girlfriend Vivian Burkhardt cause for concern.

The Monaco Grand Prix winner was seen holding hands with pop singer Nicole Scherzinger as they walked across the harbour in Monte Carlo - just two days after he was crowned champion on Sunday.

The pair were linked together after they met at the MTV Awards in Monaco where Nicole was performing with the Pussycat dolls

The 23 year-old was linked to the Pussycat Doll after they met at an MTV Awards ceremony in Munich last November.

The singer has since described the pair as 'soulmates'.

Miss Scherzinger told German newspaper Bild this week: 'I love his soul. When I saw him for the first time, I was located in an enormous crowd.

He asked me: 'How do you deal with all this bustle?'

'I said to him: Stay close to your family,  it gives you everything that you need and  keeps your feet on the ground.

'At that time I  didn’t  suspect that Lewis is exactly the same family person like me.  We are soul mates.'

The 29 year-old flew from the US after being invited to watch the race from the pits by Hamilton.

She arrived just after Miss Burkhardt was sent home to Grenada on the understanding that her presence would prove a distraction.

It was a family affair as Miss Scherzinger looked on with his brother Nicholas and father Anthony.

The couple then celebrated his win on Sunday night by partying at exclusive club Amber with the likes of Jenson Button.

Meanwhile, former Miss World finalist and current medical student Miss Burkhardt, has returned to her home island in the Caribbean.

The pair met in February at a family party. After inviting the 22-year-old model out to dinner, Hamilton asked her to accompany him to Cannes for their second date on May 18.

Her mother Valerie said: 'She took the invite very seriously.

'She knew what it would be like being seen together in public and discussed this with Lewis.

'She also consulted friends and family so we were all prepared.'

Miss Burkhardt is due to visit Hamilton in London next month - although she may wish to move her impending trip forward.

Hamilton is now back in the UK training for the Canadian Grand Prix which takes place on June 5.

A spokesman insisted that Hamilton and Scherzinger  are just friends.
