Who's that serving up burgers at a fast food joint? Eva Longoria gets a taste of how the other half live

Updated 19:45pm on 28 May 2008

Customers who arrived at the Wendy's fast food restaurant were in for a surprise when they placed their orders at the burger joint in Texas.

They were greeted by none other than Desperate Housewives Eva Longoria.

But she she was not filming a role, the actress got stuck in to dish up food to the hungry crowd.

The actress worked in the restaurant to raise money for the Wendy's Foundation

Longoria was working in the Wendy's restaurant back in her home town of Corpus Chrisit, Texas to raise money for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Foundation.

The Desperate Housewives star may have looked a little out of place with her Hollywood glamour but she got stuck into the work that she used to do as a teenager.

She served up hamburgers shakes and fries over the counter and through the window of the drive-thru to the astonishment of customers.

After the glitz of Cannes last week, this may have been a little low key for the actress but she appeared to be having a great time.

She not only charmed the customers with her winning smile but also took pictures and took time out to talk to her eager public.

Cars piled up to be served by the actress as news of her new job spread about town.

It’s a pity that she didn’t opt for the Wendy’s uniform to work for the charity that was hoping to raise $1.3 million dollars to help children find adoptive parents.

The foundation that was started by the Wendy’s founder who was also adopted aims to match 8,000 - 10,000 children with adoptive families by 2010.
