Dozy: Police said Jade Goody may have left a window 'unsecured' after she was burgled in a £56,000 raid

Reality television star Jade Goody - the woman who made a career out of her lack of intelligence  - was counting the cost of a £56,000 burglary today.

Thieves made off with designer watches, rings, a Tiffany necklace and earrings from her home.

Police believe the two-time Big Brother housemate left a window open at her £750,000 home in Waltham Abbey, Essex.

If this is the case, it means that Jade will not be covered by insurance.

She was travelling to drop her two young sons off at her mother's house in Bermondsey, south-east London, when the burglary took place.

When she returned home, with dog Batman, the star discovered one of her bedrooms had been ransacked.

Goody's spokesman said it was the third time the star had fallen victim to burglars.

He said: "She is definitely going to increase her security but there is no question of her moving away because she loves the area."

Goody, 26, was cast into the celebrity wilderness after a racist outburst on Celebrity Big Brother last year. It has since been reported that she is planning a comeback on Living TV.

An Essex Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to reports of a burglary in Pick Hill, Waltham Abbey, which is believed to have occurred between 6.30pm on May 28 and 12.30am on Thursday 29.

"The total value of items thought to have been stolen is thought to be a five-figure sum.

"Burglars are believed to have gained access by an insecure window. Jewellery, rings and watches were among items stolen."
