Leading WAG Alex Curran made sure she lived up to her 'job' title of fashion expert as she stepped out in a latest style must-have Maxi dress.

The wife of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and a similarly blonde friend were spotted in the super-long gowns as they enjoyed a shopping trip in Liverpool on Saturday.

The 25-year-old mother-of-two, who writes a fashion column for the Mirror, was sporting this summer's biggest look, a purple maxi dress and snake-print platform shoes.

With slicked back blonde hair, silver jewellery, huge shades and tanned skin, the 25-year-old looked eerily like socialite Paris Hilton.

Alex has herself enjoyed a hit and miss career in the fashion stakes since she first started dating Steven in 2002.

She wowed the crowds at Aintree in April in a flamenco-style red-frilled off-the-shoulder blouse and black pencil skirt.

And although not pregnant herself, the 25-year-old has admitted maxi dresses are comfortable and she could understand why they were favoured by mums to be.

After her shopping excursion, Alex and her fellow Maxi dress wearing-friend strolled to a nearby restaurant for an evening meal.

Recently, husband Steven revealed he is hoping to persuade his young wife to have another child.

The pair already have two daughters, Lilly-Ella, four, and Lexie, 22 months.

The football star said: ‘It would be nice if we could make it one more in the future.

‘Not just yet, but eventually. Children are very hard work and I'm happy with my family at the moment.’

Alex has been shortlisted for this year's Celebrity Mum of the Year Award, alongside fellow WAG and wannabe fashion icon Victoria Beckham.
