She has described her body battle as a "never ending fatty-roller coaster ride," and by the looks of Kirstie Alley in LA yesterday, she's on the incline again.

As the actress stepped out for a trip to the nail salon in a summer maxi dress it was clear she's struggled to keep on top of her well-documented battle of the bulge.

It comes just months after the former Cheers star ended her three-year reign as the face of weight loss company Jenny Craig amid speculation company bosses felt her ballooning size meant she was no longer an appropriate spokesperson for the brand.

The 57, who once tipped the scales at 15st 7lbs inspiring her reality-comedy series Fat Actress, had previously lost five stone in three years with the company.

She became a poster girl for healthy weight loss and donned a bikini to show off her new shape on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

After parting ways with Jenny Craig, she vowed to develop her own weight-loss brand with plans to launch in 2009.

While it's unclear if she intends to go ahead with the concept, she is hoping to revive her acting career.

She has reportedly signed on to star alongside James Brolin in the comedy Nailed, her first feature role since 2002.
