Newlyweds Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller were spotted volleying airkiss and lobbing loving looks on the tennis court yesterday as they continued their romantic honeymoon in Costa Rica.

The Platoon actor, 42, and his 30-year-old bride played a doubles match, but barely managed to keep their eye on the ball as they showered each other with romance.

The pair married at a private estate in Beverly Hills, California, on Friday after a two year courtship.

Two days after their nuptials, the couple made their first public appearance as husband and wife at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in LA on Sunday, before finally boarding a private jet for their honeymoon the following day.

The Chrysalis Butterfly Ball holds a special meaning for the couple because it's where they first went public as a couple in June 2006 - five months after Sheen split from second wife Denise Richards.

At the ball, Mueller denied rumours she was pregnant, but admitted she couldn't wait to become a mother.

She said: 'That's the next step. Hopefully triplets! Could you imagine if I really had triplets? He'd be like, "Whoa."'

The newlyweds are currently holidaying in a private villa in the grounds of the Four Seasons Hotel on Costa Rica's Papagayo Peninsula, where Sheen got down on one knee and proposed last June.

The luxurious accommodation includes vaulted ceilings, marbled bathroom, stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and its own butler.

During the first day of their honeymoon, the couple looked content to quietly relax in the sun beside each other in between sipping fresh fruit smoothies and catching up on their reading.

A friend of the couple told E! News: 'It had sentimental meaning to them. It was just really romantic for both of them and they both just wanted to go back.

'Before they arrived, the fridge was stocked with all their favourites, that way they never have to go out.

'They are so in love and just want to spend time with each other.'

The idyllic spot was also the wedding location of U.S. pop star Pink to her now-estranged husband Carey Hart two years ago.

Sheen presented his real estate investor fiancée with a £250,000, 11-carat yellow diamond and platinum ring from jeweller Lord Alon Barak.

The couple married on Friday afternoon in front of 60 friends and family, including the actor's father Martin Sheen and mother Janet, Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane and his actress wife Rebecca Gayheart (who introduced the bride and groom).

Sheen and Mueller asked wedding guests to send donations to Pugs N Pals dog charity and the Chrysalis foundation, which helps homeless people find employment.

This is the first marriage for Mueller, but Sheen will be hoping it's third time lucky after failed couplings with model Donna Peele in the 1990s and a bitter split from second wife Richards after four years of marriage.

Richards is currently starring alongside the couple's two children Lola, four; and Sam, two; in the reality show Denise Richards: It's Complicated.
