Worse for wear Lily Allen carried out of Glamour Awards

Updated 13:49pm on 4 Jun 2008

Glamour may have been the night’s theme, but Lily Allen is not one for conformity.

The 23-year-old pop star had to be carried out of London’s exclusive Berkeley Square in the early hours of this morning after partying up a storm at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

Mess: Lily Allen was the picture of inelegance as she was carried out of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards

Most unglamorous exit: Lily covered her face with her Glamour gong as she was piled into a cab

Bleary-eyed and apparently worse for wear, the newly pink-haired singer covered her face with her very own Glamour gong as a security guard put her in to a car - the irony not lost on keen-eyed observers.

A fellow party-goer said: ‘I asked her how she was doing and she could hardly stand up. She said, ‘Could you escort me out of here please? I feel ill’.

‘I was holding her hand but had to put my arm around her to steady her. She kept almost falling over. We got to the exit, and she said, “Actually, I need a cigarette”, and staggered off, bumping into someone on the way. Her brother Alfie took over from there.’

Downward spiral: Earlier Lily's pal Mark Ronson kept her propped up at the after party; earlier she caught up with Gavin & Stacey star James Corden

Cheers to me: The singer, who wore a Giles Decon dress decorated with bleeding Bambis, toasted her win

Security staff picked her up and carried her outside, and had to hand her over the street railings to another doorman.

Alfie gallantly tried to keep the onlookers at bay as she was carried out but managed to make an embarrassment of himself in the process, tripping over his feet before hitting the pavement.

Earlier she had scooped the coveted Editor's Special Award at the star-studded ceremony.

Little brother trips up too: Despite a valiant effort to keep onlookers from getting a glimpse of his sister, Alfie Allen found himself flat on the floor

'With reams of column inches to match her considerable talents, no Women of the Year line-up could be complete without the one and only Lily Allen,' Glamour editor Jo Elvin told the audience.

Lily, who teamed her freshly coloured tresses with a Giles Deacon prom dress decorated with prints of a bleeding Bambi, had been celebrating her win her close friend Mark Ronson, who was earlier crowned man of the year.

At one point, the uber producer appeared to prop Lily up as she struggled to keep her balance.

Lily also found time to catch up with her friend and rumoured romantic interest, Gavin & Stacey star James Corden.

Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown also kicked on to the after party after the Spice Girls won the best band category after staging a triumphant comeback tour.

They rubbed shoulders with Kelly Osbourne, who had scooped the theatre award following her her stage debut last year in the West End musical Chicago.

I can't believe her hair is PINK. It does not look cute..... At all.

Pathetic... And we wonder why our youth have drink problems. But then again, you have to blame the media for putting out stories like this
