Crushed: Apprentice candidate Nicholas De Lacy-Brown was injured when a wall collapsed after a lorry backed into it

The first candidate to be kicked off this year's BBC reality show The Apprentice was filmed 'screaming in pain' after he was crushed by a wall.

Trainee lawyer Nicholas De Lacy- Brown, is understood to have had several operations to repair his leg, which was badly crushed.

Mr De Lacy-Brown was injured after a lorry reversed into a wall, which then fell on top of him.

Medics, who happened to be filming an ITV documentary in the area, helped the 24-year-old at the scene while the crew captured it on camera.

Doctors say he will not be able to walk without crutches until October.

A friend of Mr De Lacy-Brown, who has a law degree from King's College London, said: 'He was trapped for several agonising minutes and screaming in pain.

'Things really took a surreal turn when the film crew also jumped out of the ambulance with the paramedics.'

Mr De Lacy-Brown was the first to be fired by Sir Alan Sugar in the current BBC1 series. He lost his place after he incorrectly priced seafood on a fish stall in Islington.

At one point he allowed lobsters to be sold for less than a quarter of their recommended retail price.

The error meant his team lost the challenge and were sent to the boardroom to explain themselves.

Booted out: De Lacy-Brown was the first to be kicked off the show

Mr De Lacy-Brown also said he was unable to get on with 'less educated' candidates.

In tonight's semi-final, the five remaining contestants are set to be quizzed in individual interviews by some of Sir Alan's senior executives and business leaders, including Karren Brady of Birmingham City FC.

Two - or possibly three -candidates will then be dismissed by Sir Alan.

The candidates - management consultant Lucinda Ledgerwood, salesman Alex Wotherspoon, retail buyer Claire Young, corporate businesswoman Helene Speight and recruitment sales manager Lee McQueen - survived last week when salesman Michael Sophocles was fired.

This year's show is expected to gain more than eight million viewers for the semi-final and next week's final.

A record 20,000 original applicants for this series reflected the show's massive following - even Sir Alan's assistants Margaret Mountford and Nick Hewer have now gained celebrity status.
