Sharon Osbourne has dramatically quit as a judge on the X Factor after four years.

She announced she was leaving the show yesterday, after months of speculation about her future on the show.

The wife of rock star Ozzy Osbourne has quit amid claims of a pay row and a falling out with fellow judge Danni Minogue.

Friends of the TV star, aged 55, yesterday claimed she had simply decided that four years was enough on the show.

But insiders on the hit programme claimed she had become massively jealous of Danni Minogue close friendship with Simon Cowell.

They also claimed that her unsuccessful demands for a massive £500,000 pay rise to take part in the show were also behind the decision.

She reportedly wanted a £2million contact to do this year's show, which bosses were believed to have refused.

An insider said "It is very simple -  she is massively jealous of Danni Minogue, because she is young, glamorous and there is a great chemistry between her and Simon. Her nose has been put out of joint over this."

"She feels even more pushed out and demanded more money and was told no way. It is really a question that she has pushed her luck and the main problem has been that jealousy between her and Danni Minogue."

Her relationship with Cowell is still said to be fine and she is currently appearing as a judge on the new series of America's Got Talent.

A friend of Sharon Osbourne said: "It is what it is. She has done four years which is a long run and all good things have to come to an end.

"She is still filming in America,  America's Got Talent is out next week and she has just done another series over there. She is doing a huge variety show she is doing and she has got a couple of documentaries she is doing. So she has got plenty of stuff on don't worry about that."

On last year series of The X Factor there was said to be a bitter behind-the-scenes hostilities between Osbourne and Danni Minogue.
