Star gazing: David Beckham leads a galaxy of A-listers at LA Lakers game

Updated 12:56pm on 11 Jun 2008

Hollywood turned out in force last night to see cheer on its favourite basketball team, the LA Lakers.

Long-time fan Jack Nicholson could not contain his excitement as the side beat rival Boston Celtics to give them a chance of winning the national finals.

David Beckham, sporting a Lakers T-shirt, and his eldest son Brooklyn watched from the 'bleachers'.

He led a roll call of stars peppered throughout the crowd, including Sylvester Stallone, Eddie Murphy, Steven Spielberg, Hugh Hefner, Tobey Maguire, David Arquette, Hilary Duff and Fergie.

Beckham, who plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy, is the current US football fans' favourite.

He leads the voting which will help to decide the all-star team to play West Ham in Toronto on 24 July.

Beckham may be popular with soccer fans but not with LA's waiters, according to a website. They say he and his wife Victoria are bad tippers.

Hollywood gossip blog TMZ.com said: "We're told the worst celeb tippers at STK (a posh Hollywood steakhouse) - are two of the richest folk in town - the Beckhams.

'We're told the restaurant once comped David and Victoria, and guess how much they left by way of tip? Nada.'
