It was a meeting of two of the showbiz world's biggest male stars - and a sight to make the heart of most red-blooded females beat unseasonably fast.

When David Beckham met 'Sexyback' singer Justin Timberlake courtside at the star-studded LA Lakers v Boston Celtics play-offs, the pair no doubt set pulses racing among the female contingent at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

R&B fan Becks enjoyed a chat with the singing superstar before settling down to enjoy another action-packed game.

Singer Justin has been taking a break from his day job to concentrate on his acting career. And he appeared courtside fresh from promotional duties for his new role as an actor in Mike Myers comedy The Love Guru.

He said: 'I do love to make people laugh...My favourite thing to do when I was a kid was to make my parents laugh.

'I'd always goof around the house and do stuff like that. And to actually have that as a job, I feel pretty lucky.'

Becks has been following the action avidly and has been seen at a number of the high-profile games which will decide the winners of the NBA finals.

The footballer has just been named one of the 10 most powerful celebrities in the world by Forbes magazine.

The LA Galaxy star, who earned £25 million in the past year, jumped from 15th to fifth place on this year's list, beating out other megawatt stars including Madonna, The Rolling Stones and Elton John.

Wife Victoria also makes an appearance on the list, coming in at 50 as part of the Spice Girls.

The LA Galaxy footballer led a roll call of stars peppered throughout the crowd, including Will Smith,  Spike Lee, Tobey Maguire, and actress Jennifer Garner.

Unfortunately Beckham, who is rooting for home team LA Lakers, saw them lose  97-91 loss to the Boston Celtics putting them on the brink of elimination from the finals.
