Potter gold: JK Rowling made more than either Tiger Woods and Oprah Winfrey last year

JK Rowling was the world's highest-earning celebrity last year, making £150million.

The Harry Potter creator earned more than Oprah Winfrey and Tiger Woods, who took home £138million and £57million.

Her success is revealed in US magazine Forbes's list of the 100 most powerful celebrities.

The 42-year-old, who is worth around £550million, earns £1million every three days from her seven books.

However, because she is fiercely protective of her privacy and keeps a low media profile, Miss Rowling came only ninth on the list in terms of overall pulling power.

As well as earnings, Forbes ranks stars according to their internet and Press mentions, along with TV appearances over the past year.

Because of this, Oprah Winfrey came top for the fifth year running, with Tiger Woods in second place.

David Beckham was the highest-rated Briton, in fifth place.
