Wake up and smell the lavender: Posh goes organic as she shops down the market

Updated 15:27pm on 16 Jun 2008

Victoria Beckham appears to have embraced the celebrity trend for organic goods as she filled up her bags while shopping at a street market in Los Angeles.

For a woman who can afford to shop in any designer store in the world, it seemed strange to see Posh pouring over bunches of lavender and organic foodstuffs in an LA 'flea' market similar to London's Portobello Road.

Never knowingly overdressed: Posh does her signature overly-groomed look for a trip down the market

Posh, 34, was spotted with her nose embedded in a bunch of lavender as she took her sons to the Farmers Market in Hollywood.

She took sons Brooklyn, nine, five-year-old Romeo and Cruz, three, for an afternoon's shopping yesterday.

The former Spice Girl, was typically over-dressed for the trendy street market in statement red dress, and nude heels as she trawled around the stalls buying homemade bread and other goods.

But it did make a change to see her without her Amex card, and holding the folding stuff instead to make her purchases.

As well as stocking up on the fragrant flower, Posh browsed for vintage jewellery, and was also seen snapping up cartoon character Sponge Bob Square Pants towels and curtains for her sons.

Ever the practical one, she then packed everything into the tiny boot of her convertible Porsche sports car.

Meanwhile, husband David Beckham and former X Factor winner Leona Lewis are among stars being lined up to feature in the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

The 'handover' performance will mark the point when the next Games move to London.

Beckham, who originates from Leyton and backed the 2012 bid, will jump off the bus for a kickabout with children representing every country in the world.
