Geri Halliwell once had a number one hit with Lift Me Up and it appears the wind was trying to do just that on a shopping trip in west London yesterday.

The Spice Girl, 35, experienced a 'hairstyle malfunction' when a gust of wind sent her hair sky-high on a day out with her daughter Bluebell and mother Ana.

Despite her Ginger Spice nickname, the darkened roots of Geri's dyed blonde hair were on full display as the weather gave the singer a momentarily bad hair day.

Hair-raising: A gust of wind sends Geri Halliwell's hair reaching for the heavens as she leaves Ikea in west London

Geri wasn't the only one who fell victim to the wind's style-destroying power - her mother Ana's short cut was shaped into a cockatoo-style as a gust whipped through the car park.

The pop star brought her two-year-old to Ikea in Wembley to buy a Winter Wonderland playset for the tot.

But like many toddlers, it appeared Bluebell's was inpatient to play in the flatpack toy as soon as possible and started throwing a tantrum in the car park.

Geri's Spanish mother Ana was on hand to help the star calm down the upset tot as they loaded the boxes into the car.

Aside from single motherhood, Geri has recently been linked with her backing dancer Ivan 'Flipz' Velez.

The couple have been dating since the Spice Girls tour earlier this year.

Geri recently expanded her CV into writing.

She published her first children's book Ugenia Lavender - the first of six-book series from the Spice Girl - earlier this month.
