The naked truth: Celebrities bare all in make-up and airbrush free photoshoot

Updated 19:18pm on 17 Jun 2008

Thanks to the magic of the airbrush we’re bombarded by images of flawless faces and blemish-free bodies on a daily basis, but in a brave move five celebrities agreed to bare all in a make-up and airbrush free photoshoot.

In a ground-breaking move, Myleene Klass, Fearne Cotton, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Davina McCall and Claudia Winkleman were persuaded by Heat Magazine to ditch the make-up and reveal their true, natural beauty.

New mum and former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here contestant Myleene said she undertook the shoot because she enjoyed the novelty of it.

'There's enough pressure on women who see images that are so unattainable,' the 30-year-old said. 'But this is the skin we're given. I've got a freckle and a lazy eye, and I don't have much in the eyebrow department.

Myleene Klass admits that having a baby has left her with love handles but has learnt to dress cleverly and says we should accept the skin we've been given

As a Marks & Spencer model she is no stranger to the airbrush but wouldn't have been so confident with the shoot six years ago when she was a pop singer. 'In my Hear'Say days I used make-up as a mask.'

Having just turned 40, Davina’s the eldest of the women to volunteer for the warts and all shoot, but proves that even without the make-up she still looks good.

The Big Brother presenter agreed to do the photoshoot because she believes it’s important to see women who are in the public eye not looking perfect.

‘I always find great solace when I see celebs who I think are really beautiful shot in the morning without make-up on’, admits the mother-of-three, who was nervous about the shoot. ‘The only other time I see them is on the red carpet, and that gives a warped view of what women look like. And it’s depressing aspiring to perfection all the time when you can’t achieve it.’

Fearne Cotton, 26, Tara Palmer Tomkinson and Claudia Winkleman, both 36, also ditched the fancy styling usually favoured by celebrities.

Fearne, who found the experience exhilarating said: 'On one shoot they airbrushed out all my tattoos which I was annoyed about.

'I think I look younger and quite innocent without make-up. But I'm getting darker under my eyes. That's all that bothers me.'

Davina looks fabulous.

And Claudia - seriously - ditch that AWFUL nude lippie you insist on wearing - it's so 1990's and not in the least bit flattering.
