Simon Cowell's favourite X Factor judge Dannii Minogue seems to have a bit of competition – in the shapely form of singer Cheryl Cole.

Cowell has been bombarding Cheryl, the newest recruit to the ITV show, with good-luck texts.

Bombarded: Cheryl Cole has been inundated with text messages from Simon Cowell, wishing her luck as a new judge on the X Factor

‘She has been showing them to her make-up artist and having a good old laugh,’ says a friend of the Girls Aloud star, who is trying to patch up her marriage with footballer Ashley Cole.

‘In one, he  asked her if the wardrobe department had got everything she wanted and whether she had enough low-cut tops.’

I like the fact that women are taken seriously in this day and age ... the trouble is I don't think of Dannii or Cheryl as serious women ( really, does either of them have an IQ over 100?) With many brilliant, intelligent, witty women out there, it's a real shame Simon Cowell's picked a couple air heads for the X-factor.
