'I want up to six children by the time I'm 32', says pregnant Charlotte Church

Updated 16:34pm on 24 Jun 2008

A glowing Charlotte Church has revealed her plans to rear a big brood of children with partner Gavin Henson, once they can decide on the actual number.

The singer, who is thrilled to be pregnant with her second child just nine months after the birth of her first, told chat show host Jonathan Ross that she wants up to six children - and preferably by the age of 32.

In her first television interview since she announced the news, three months pregnant Charlotte, looking radiant in a plum fifties style gown, and matching shoes, told Ross: 'I want between four and six and Gavin wants eight.'

'I want all my babies by the time I'm 32 so then I can have everything done!'

She told Ross: ''We want to have our babies young and then I'm going to get married and look fabulous for that. We're trying to create a little rugby team.'

Before motherhood, Charlotte had a reputation for binge drinking and partying.

But she said that since the birth she has settled down and enjoys staying in with her family.

Speaking about being a parent the first time she tells Ross in the interview to be screened Friday: 'I didn't drink at all, I love the whole pregnancy process. I thought I'm going to be a nightmare, but it was fine.'

Both Charlotte and Gavin, seen here in 2006, want a big family before they marry

'Ruby's a proper daddy's girl .. Gavin helps with everything.

'Even when I was breast-feeding in the night he'd get up to be supportive because I was knackered.'

And as for reviving her singing career, she adds: 'I think I'll try and fit it in around the babies, I'm happy with the simple life, I feel so lucky for everything I have.

'Charlotte gave birth to her first child Ruby Megan Henson in a birthing pool at her mother's farmhouse home in St Bride's Major, South Wales last September.

Ruby, weighed 6lb 12oz and Henson, now 26, was said to have held her hand throughout the labour.

The couple said they named the little girl Ruby because it's 'precious like a gem'.

The singer, who is also a TV presenter, said that despite the pregnancy she would 'fulfil her commitment' to present her Channel 4  The Charlotte Church Show in July and August of this year.

The full interview can be seen on BBC1's Friday Night With Jonathan Ross,  10.35 pm, 27 June 2008.
