Game, set and love match: Greg Norman weds Chris Evert in the Bahamas

Updated 12:17pm on 30 Jun 2008

Tennis ace Chris Evert and golfing star Greg Norman have sealed their love match with a sunset wedding in the Bahamas.

The sports stars, both 53, exchanged vows in front of about 140 guests during a weekend getaway which started with a golf and tennis tournament.

'They wanted a romantic wedding,' event planner Mary Fanizzi Krystoff told People magazine. 'They wanted their friends and family to enjoy a wonderful weekend together.'

Evert's sons Alex, 16, and Nicky, 14, walked her down the aisle, and her youngest, Colton, was ringbearer.

Norman's son Gregory Jr, 21, was best man, and his daughter Morgan, 23, was also there.

The outdoor ceremony and reception areas were decorated with cream and pink, and wines from Greg Norman Estates were served at a rehearsal dinner on Friday and at Saturday's reception.

Evert and Norman, who became engaged last December during a trip to South Africa, were staying at a £5,300  a night suite at the One & Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island.

Evert, who won 18 grand slam titles, including three at Wimbledon and a record seven at the French Open, split from her husband of 18 years, professional skier Andy Mill in December 1996, and paid him a settlement believed to be £1.8 million.

She was previously married to British tennis player John Lloyd.

Australian Norman, known as the Great White Shark, has won two British Open titles.

He reached a multi-million dollar divorce settlement with his wife of 26 years, Laura Andrassy, last September.

Earlier this year Evert told talk show host Oprah Winfrey she was not worried about marrying again.

She said: 'At our age, over 50, it's not like you're 18. Both of us have lived long enough to know.'
