As every sun-loving girl knows, it's important to keep cool when temperatures are soaring.

So newlywed Coleen McLoughlin was lucky to have her husband Wayne Rooney on hand to spray her with Evian as she basked yet again in the blistering Las Vegas heat on her honeymoon yesterday.

While he lovingly doused down his wife, who soaked up the rays in a strapless polka dot bikini, Wayne wisely kept himself covered up - sporting a T-shirt, shorts and baseball cap to keep the sun off.

Unlike 22-year-old Coleen, who is getting browner by the day, the pale-skinned footballer, also 22, does not appear to take to the sun easily.

When he stripped off his T-shirt to cuddle up to Coleen in the pool, his reddening shoulders were in striking contrast to her golden tan.

But if he was in pain he didn't show it - tenderly kissing his new wife and playfully adjusting her bikini bottoms in the pool.

Perhaps Wayne's lack of tan can be explained by his fondness for the sport which made him famous.

While Coleen was happy to lounge by the pool, football star Wayne holed himself up in his cabana to watch the semi-finals of the Euro 2008 championships on a flat-screen TV.
