Hollywood actress Naomi Watts is pregnant with her second child - just 10 months after giving birth to her son Alexander.

The Kent-born King Kong star, 39, is four months pregnant with her second baby with actor partner Liev Schreiber, MailOnline has learned.

Naomi's pregnancy news is coincidental as her best friend Nicole Kidman is awaiting the birth of her first child with husband Keith Urban any day now.

The Oscar-nominated actress and American partner Liev, who started dating in April 2005, welcomed son Alexander Pete in Los Angeles last July.

The couple co-starred in the romantic epic The Painted Veil.

Naomi, whose Hollywood breakthrough came in Mulholland Dr. in 2001, is currently taking an extended break from filming to focus on motherhood.

Her next movie project, The International, isn't scheduled for release until 2009.

Naomi was raised in Britain, but moved to Australia when she was 14, several years after the death of her father, Pink Floyd sound engineer Peter Watts.

It was during her teen years as a young model, she befriended a then-unknown Nicole Kidman and the two co-starred in 1991 indie film Flirting along with Thandie Newton.

After living in Australia for 10 years, Naomi moved to Hollywood and currently splits her  time between New York and Los Angeles.

In 2004, she was nominated for Best Actress Oscar and a BAFTA for her performance of a grieving wife and mother in 21 Grams.

Watts previously dated tragic Australian actor Heath Ledger, who died of an accidental prescription drug overdose in January.
