Glamour model Katie Price and husband Peter Andre are celebrating after winning a libel trial over a tabloid article portraying them as bad parents.

The couple left the High Court in London today after being awarded undisclosed, 'substantial damages' and a public apology.

Price, aka Jordan, and former pop star Andre, sued the News Of The World regarding an article in February featuring a series of damning allegations about their parenting in an interview with their former nanny Becky Gauld.

Triumphant: Katie Price and Peter Andre outside the High Court today

The Sunday newspaper, published by News International, have retracted all comments made in the article.

The couple said they would split their damages between the NSPCC and Vision Charity, and the other half would be placed in a trust fund for their three chldren, Harvey, Junior and Princess Tiaamii.

Speaking outside court today, Price said: 'Pete and I love our kids and would do anything for them.

'We came here today to see that justice was done and that our names were cleared.

'Now that the paper has accepted the story wasn't true, apologised to us, and paid us damages and our costs, we believe the record has been set straight and our names have been cleared.'

Andre added: 'We would like to say thank you very much. It means a lot to us as a family.'

The newspaper's solicitor Joanna Workman said the publication accepted the report was untrue and the couple were decent and responsible parents.

In court, the couple's solicitor Mike Brookes said: 'In general terms, the article portrayed the claimants as shocking and uncaring parents who put their own needs above those of their children.

'Allegations of this nature are of course highly defamatory and they were particularly offensive to the claimants because they are not true.

'Ms Price and Mr Andre pride themselves on a very loving and caring relationship with their children which has in fact been recognised publicly, with them both winning separate 'celebrity parenting' awards.'
