Lenny Kravitz denies affair with baseball star's wife

Updated 19:38pm on 3 Jul 2008

Rocker Lenny Kravitz has denied reports he is having an affair with the wife of one of America's top baseball stars.

The New York Daily News and New York Post reported today that Yankees player Alex Rodriguez's wife Cynthia had left the sports star after five years of marriage to join Kravitz in Paris.

News of the couple's split comes just days after the third baseman was romantically linked to Madonna, who has denied reports her own marriage to Guy Ritchie is in trouble.

Friend to foe: Reports claim Lenny Kravitz is dating Cynthia - the wife of his friend, Yankee baseball star Alex Rodriguez

News of the Rodriguezs' split just comes just two months after Cynthia gave birth to their second child, a daughter named Ella.

A source close to Alex, the world's highest paid sportsman, told the New York Daily News: 'It's true. They've been having problems for about three months.'

Alex, 32, only spent a few days with his 34-year-old wife in Miami after Ella's birth, before returning to New York.

After Cynthia was spotted outside Kravitz's Paris apartment earlier this week, prompting reports she had become involved with the rocker.

Kravitz, 44, has vehemently denied the allegations, insisting he is supporting Cynthia as a friend.

He tells American magazine Us Weekly: 'There is absolutely no affair between Cynthia Rodriguez and myself.

'This is unequivocally 100% per cent not true. Cynthia is a friend and is here with the godfather of her baby, who is also Alex's trainer, his wife and their baby girl.

'She came here to escape from everything happening in New York City. I opened my home to her as a friend and I find it extremely hurtful that I am now being referred to as an adulterer.'

During his 20 year pop career, Kravitz has been linked to a string of stunning celebrities, including Nicole Kidman, Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia, Vanessa Paradis and Devon Aoki.

In the early '90s, he was married to Cosby Show actress Lisa Bonet, who gave birth to their daughter Zoe in 1988.
