Getting caught looking uncharacteristically dowdy is something Carly Zucker strives hard to avoid.

So when the WAG spotted a photographer lurking outside her London home, she abandoned the shopping, exited her car and quickly dashed inside.

Carly, 23, who was wearing trainers and no make-up, clearly takes great pride in her appearance as when she emerged minutes later she had changed into a pair of heeled wedges and painted her face.

Fitness instructor Carly and Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole, who share a home in Chelsea, are due to tie the knot this summer followed by a lavish reception at the State Apartments in London's Royal Hospital Chelsea.

The venue – situated just off the trendy Kings Road – is steeped in history with sumptuous oak-panelled rooms and famous paintings, including those by Van Dyke and Lely.

Calry and Joe Cole are due to tie the knot this summer

Charles II founded the Royal Hospital in 1682 as a retreat for veterans – and the hospital's buildings are now a home for 400 pensioners whose distinctive bright red jackets are a common sight around Chelsea.

The couple originally wanted to marry in the historic hospital chapel on Saturday June 28, but were told they would have to worship there for six months and then get special dispensation from the Archbishop to become eligible.

So they have decided to have the reception at the hospital and the wedding ceremony elsewhere

The 200-strong guest list is expected to include Manchester United star Michael Carrick and his wife Lisa, a close friend of Carly, and Chelsea team-mates including captain John Terry and his wife Toni.

Cole proposed to Carly a year ago after a dinner at London's celebrity restaurant The Ivy. They have been dating for six years and Cole gave her a £50,000 ring at their Surrey mansion.

Such extravagant spending is nothing out of the ordinary for his England pal Rooney. He and Coleen McLoughlin are set to marry a fortnight earlier, on June 14, in a £3million ceremony in Italy.

Carly hit the headlines at the 2006 World Cup and was photographed out on the town shopping with the other WAGS.

A year ago she suffered a major weight loss, prompting speculation that the pressure of being a WAG had caused her to succumb to a Size Zero image.
