Could it be that the infamous swordsman Russell Brand has finally decided to settle down - even to the point of wanting to become a daddy?

The hirsute comedian, 33, had a broody moment backstage at the O2 Wireless Festival in London's Hyde Park when he held a pal's baby.

As he lovingly cradled the tot, he told his new girlfriend: "Ooh I think I want one of these."

Breaking thousands of hearts across the land, he continued: "Shall we get started?"

Aussie actress Teresa Palmer, 22, has succeeded where thousands of other women have failed in taming legendary lothario Russell.

We hear the couple have been together for a month  -  which must be something of a record for the yo-yo-trousered Russell  -  and met each other on the set of Disney movie Bedtime Stories.

After being photographed holidaying in Mexico together last month, Russell and Teresa went public as a couple at the Silver Clef Awards in London on Friday.

Russ and Teresa were part of a scrum of celebs who were trying to outdo each other in what looked like a freebie-grabbing competition - Everything from complimentary smoothies to free jewellery was being snapped up, but the daddy of all swipes must go to Joe Swash  -  for trying his luck nicking a golf cart.

The EastEnders star, 26, was spotted trying to start the cart with a couple of mates in the backstage area, but was caught redhanded by security staff. Still, we award him top marks for his ambition.

An onlooker said: "He was just messing around and hadn't even got the ignition working but was asked to leave the backstage area all the same."

Another celeb who got into trouble yesterday was Ben Harper, who started his set half an hour early  -  breaking the festival's strict noise licensing rules.

Several local residents complained when he kicked off at 1.30pm instead of 2pm, and organisers had to pull the plug on his performance.

He jumped into the audience and tried to continue unplugged before his people convinced him to stop and wait.
